James Griffith Boilermaker Charity Bib
For nearly 100 years, Lion Clubs International have served their communities with dedication and contributed to the development and well-being of millions of people around the world. To celebrate our 100th anniversary, Lions Clubs International is asking to help reach their Centennial Service Challenge goal of serving more than 100 million people by June 2018.
Food Bank of Central New York provides food, nutrition education, and technical assistance to 356 programs including 250 emergency food programs in eleven counties.
I ran my first Boilermaker in 2004 and this year will make my 13th race. I am very pleased be running this year's Boilermaker for the Food Bank to help aid and assist in Lions Clubs International Centennial Service Challenge part to relieve hunger by improving access to healthy food for vulnerable populations in our communities.
Where there’s a need, there’s a LION!
The Food Bank's charity bib team is comprised of five volunteer individuals who have each pledged to raise at least $500 for Food Bank of Central New York in return for a guaranteed spot in the Boilermaker.
Funds raised through charity bibs will support the Food Bank's Mobile Food Pantry program which distributes free boxes of food to areas of unmet need in Herkimer, Oneida, Madison, and Onondaga counties. Each bib will support one distribution, providing on average enough perishable food packages for 100 four-person households.
