Friday, September 1, 2017
Representatives from Galaxy Events and Food Bank of Central New York gathered today to announce a donation of $1,000 from the bacon festival that occurred in Syracuse on August 19, 2017. With each purchase at the bacon dipping station, a donation of $1 was made to the Food Bank to help feed the hungry. Event attendees also had the opportunity to make additional donations to help feed hungry individuals and families. That $274.43, along with the $1,000 presented by Galaxy Events, will help provide 3,823 meals for children, families, and seniors in our eleven county service area.
“We are pleased that the inaugural Bacon Festival included supporting our mission of feeding the hungry,” stated Kathleen Stress, Executive Director of Food Bank of Central New York. “Fun events like this help to create awareness that hunger exists locally while demonstrating we can all do something to help. Every dollar donated provided three meals. Looking forward to Bacon Festival 2018!”
“Our first ever bacon festival was a tremendous success,” said Pam Levine, President and CEO of Galaxy Events. “And we were thrilled that we were able to tie in the event with such a worthy charity as Food Bank of Central New York. Everyone had a great time while helping this great organization carry on its important mission to feed the hungry in central New York.”
