Community Can Help Feed the Hungry at the Great New York State Fair
Friday, August 11, 2017
Food Bank of Central New York is excited to partner with the Great New York State Fair on their third annual food drive. This year, organizers have expanded the food drive to all thirteen days of the fair. Fairgoers are encouraged to bring non-perishable food donations any day they visit the fairgrounds.
After the success of last year’s food drive, fairgoers will have more opportunity to participate this year. Upon entrance to the fair, donations can be dropped off at all Guest Relations kiosks. At the end of the Fair, the Food Bank will distribute the food throughout our eleven county service area.
“We are thrilled that the Fair has invited us to return and be part of the food drive. Attending the Fair is fun for all and now each attendee can help feed a neighbor or friend in need by dropping off non-perishable foods as they enter the gates, “stated Kathleen Stress, Executive Director, Food Bank of Central New York.
“From the earliest days of agriculture, our farmers have been concerned with just one thing: making sure people have enough food to eat. We are pleased to carry that tradition forward with our partners at Food Bank of Central New York and encourage everyone to help make a donation that will allow someone else to have a meal,” said Troy Waffner, Acting Fair Director.
