Help Feed the Hungry at the Great New York State Fair

SYRACUSE, NY – On Friday, August 26 and Saturday, August 27, the community is invited to participate in the second annual NYS Fair Food Drive, sponsored by M&T Bank. Volunteers will be stationed at various entrances to the fairgrounds accepting non-perishable food donations from fairgoers. For every pound of food collected, M&T Bank will donate $1 to support the work of the Food Bank.

After the success of last year’s drive, organizers made the decision to expand the food drive to two days for even more opportunity for fairgoers to participate. Volunteers will accept non-perishable food donations or monetary donations at the main gate, gates 3, 4, and the new pedestrian gate on Bridge Street, 11a, and in the Orange Parking lot at the walkway.

“We are thrilled to partner with the New York State Fair and M&T Bank again this year,” stated Kathleen Stress, Executive Director at Food Bank of Central New York. “The food collected at the NYS Fair Food Drive will be distributed throughout our eleven county service area of central and northern New York. Funds raised will allow us to continue to access fresh, nutritious foods to distribute as well.”
