Scott Kingsley Boilermaker Charity Bib

Scott KingsleyI am honored to be a member of Food Bank of Central New York’s charity bib team in the 2017 Boilermaker Road Race. This will be my first time participating in this prestigious race that has had such a profound effect on central New York over the past 40 years.

I have been a member of the Food Bank's Board of Directors for the past several years and have been President of the board for the past year.

Food Bank of Central New York provides food, nutrition education, and technical assistance to 365 programs including 252 emergency food agencies in eleven counties, from southern Chenango county to northern St. Lawrence County. As the CFO of Community Bank, NA, the vast service area of the Food Bank aligns perfectly with that of my company, which continues to be an active supporter of the organization.

I have been a participant in the Empire State Winter Games for the past several years (Snowshoe Racing) which was a product of wanting to maintain good year-round exercise habits, while participating in something I could enjoy competing in. I have wanted to extend my snowshoe racing participation to the longer races (I have historically competed in mostly sprint events), so training for the Boilermaker should also provide the necessary motivation to get closer to that objective during the spring and summer months. Combine that with the opportunity to raise additional funds and create incremental awareness for the Food Bank and this is clearly a “win-win” for me.

The Food Bank's charity bib team is comprised of six volunteer individuals. Scott has pledged to raise $5,000 for Food Bank of Central New York in return for a guaranteed spot in the Boilermaker.

Funds raised through charity bibs will support the Food Bank's Mobile Food Pantry program which distributes free boxes of food to areas of unmet need in Herkimer, Oneida, Madison, and Onondaga counties. Each bib will support one distribution, providing on average enough perishable food packages for 100 four-person households.

Scott has currently raised: $19,095.00
