SNAP Outreach

Need help applying for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits?

Contact Food Bank of Central New York's Nutrition Outreach and Education Program (NOEP) for help. Our team will connect you to your county NOEP coordinator who will assist you in applying for SNAP benefits.

Food Bank of Central New York is committed to reducing food insecurity in our eleven county service area. Our staff takes a multifaceted approach to fighting hunger by not only providing nutritious food supplies to individuals and families, but also assisting that same population in reaching self-sufficiency and independence.

Our NOEP staff assists individuals and families in applying for SNAP benefits and provides pre-screening and application assistance for families in need. In doing so, the Food Bank's outreach team was able to provide 1,568,807 SNAP meals to individuals and families in central and northern New York during our 2014-2015 fiscal year.

SNAP offers nutrition assistance to millions of eligible, low-income individuals and families and provides economic benefits to communities. SNAP is the largest program in the domestic hunger safety net. The Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) works with state agencies, nutrition educators, and neighborhood and faith-based organizations to ensure that those eligible for nutrition assistance can make informed decisions about applying for the program and access benefits. FNS also works with state partners and the retail community to improve program administration and ensure program integrity.
