SNAP Outreach
Need help applying for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits?
Contact Food Bank of Central New York's Outreach Department for help. Our team will connect you to your county Outreach Coordinator who will assist you in applying for SNAP benefits.
Food Bank of Central New York is committed to reducing food insecurity in our 11-county service area. Our staff takes a multifaceted approach to fighting hunger by not only providing nutritious food to our network of partner agencies, but also assisting individuals and families with self-sufficiency and independence.
Our Outreach Coordinators provide SNAP pre-screening and application assistance for individuals and families. Last fiscal year, the Food Bank's Outreach team connected individuals and families in central and northern New York with 5.2 million SNAP meals.
SNAP offers nutrition assistance to millions of eligible, low-income individuals and families and provides economic benefits to communities. SNAP is the largest program in the domestic hunger safety net. The Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) works with state agencies, nutrition educators, and neighborhood and faith-based organizations to ensure that those eligible for nutrition assistance can make informed decisions about applying for the program and access benefits. FNS also works with state partners and the retail community to improve program administration and ensure program integrity.
